PTA CO-PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

July 16, 2007

Dear Sarah Smith Families and Teachers,

As incoming co-presidents for the Sarah Smith Parent Teacher Association (PTA), we welcome you to the 2007-2008 school year and invite you to Get Connected. With superb leadership from the administrative team, the outstanding faculty and staff, and your support, Sarah Smith continues on its path of excellence through two fabulous organizations-the PTA and the Sarah Smith Education Foundation (SSEF). We are proud of our school and its record of success. We are proud to be representing you, and the many ways in which parents get connected with Sarah Smith.

We look forward to more success in the coming year. We remain steadfast in our connection with the Sarah Smith Education Foundation as both organizations work towards one end goal: the education of the "whole child" at Sarah Smith. In a few days you will receive a PTA Dues and SSEF Annual Campaign letter. Your support of these organizations is vitally important.

Our annual school orientation, "Celebration of Learning" will be held Friday, August 10, 2007. The kindergarten campus has rolling start times due to the limited parking. Specific information will come in the same letter which identifies your child's kindergarten teacher. Please plan to park on the streets around Interlochen Drive as parking in the lot will be limited. The 1st through 5th grade teachers are excited to meet their students at the Main Campus from 12:00-1:00.

At "Celebration of Learning", you will have the opportunity to meet your teacher(s), sign up for PTA volunteer positions in and outside of the classroom, learn your APS bus route, buy school spirit wear, sign up for the after school programs and much more.

We also look forward to seeing you at the 1st PTA Meeting followed by the Open House at 6:30 on Thursday, September 6th 2007. At this meeting, we want you to get connected with all that PTA does to support our students, faculty, and school community. After that, you will have the opportunity to learn more about your child's day in the classroom as you visit his/her teacher. Kindergarten Open House will be scheduled separately to accommodate parents who have children at both campuses. We encourage parents of kindergartners to attend the 1st PTA meeting at the main campus as well.

We are excited about the upcoming year at Sarah Smith. Our children are fortunate to have such a wonderful, academically strong and enthusiastic group of teachers. Our PTA is proud to support and work with each of them. We look forward to connecting with your talents, ideas, energy and time as we continue on this path of excellence. We hope you enjoy your last few weeks of summer and come back ready for a new school year! We are looking forward to seeing you very soon.
