A travel through time!

The social studies curriculum at Sarah Smith Elementary is enriched with the help of parent volunteers. Students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade are provided with a series of hands-on lessons and experiences that take each grade level through a specific period in world history.

• Kindergarten begins in Ancient Egypt.
• First Grade progresses through Ancient Greece and Rome.
• Second Grade enjoys the study of the Middle Ages.
• Third Grade then learns about the Renaissance.
• Fourth Grade studies the 18th Century.
• And Fifth Grade enjoys the Victorian era and the Industrial Revolution.

The program, taught entirely by parent volunteers, is a favorite activity among our students and a great opportunity for parents who enjoy coordinating art projects, organizing teaching activities, assisting with skits, assembling costumes, and helping in a variety of other roles.
